What? Santa Claus is an Alias?

St. Nick, St. Nicholas, Father Christmas, Santa, Kris Kringle, Christkind, Sinterklaas, de Kerstman (The Christmas Man), Pere Noel, (Father Christmas), I could go on and on. Did you know there are over 70 different names for a bearded, jolly, sleigh loading fellow that those in my household call Santa Claus or just plain old Santa?

It's true, according to Wikipedia, the legend of Santa starts with a figure originating in western Christian culture, who is said to bring gifts to the homes of well-behaved children on the night of Christmas Eve (24 December) and the early morning hours of Christmas Day (25 December). Saint Nicholas, a fourth-century Greek bishop, gave gold coins to the poor. The legend goes on to say that he climbed the roofs and tossed the coins down the chimney which landed in stockings left to dry on the fireplace, giving you the tradition of 'the stockings were hung by the chimney with care'.
